Wij kregen de hoekkamer met uitzicht op zee. Geweldig! Ontbijt en diner prima, vriendelijk personeel en voldoende parkeergelegenheid op straat. Goed overnachtingshotel op weg naar de ferry naar Ierland.

Unfortunately we would not recommend this hotel. We had booked a hotel room but were given an apartment in the adjacent building. It was spacious but in considerable need of refurbishment. The sofa was stained, some paintwork and flooring in very poor condition, handles missing from bedroom furniture, mouldy grout in the shower, some lightbulbs not working… to list a few of the negative issues! We left after one night of our planned two night break. Following a complaint to the manager, we did receive a refund for the night that we did not stay.

The hotel location was good and the staff were nice. When we checked in (Saturday) we were told that there would be live entertainment on at night and would end at midnight. I wish I knew this before booking the hotel. Our room was directly above the bar and a live band was playing rock music. The floor to our room was literally vibrating and there was no way my wife and young children were going to be able to sleep. Even relaxing and watching TV was out of the question because the music was so loud. If your booking is for older children or adults only and you're going to stay up late, this hotel would be fine for you. We arrived back at our room at 22:30 and there was no way we were going to get to sleep so we left and drove home. If you have young kids and want to sleep before midnight, then avoid booking this hotel on a Saturday, at all costs.

Room 1 should be advertised/used as a single room as too small for 2 people. It wasn't value for money! No chair to put anything & limited storage. The bathroom needs some hooks or a rail for towels. It was clean. All food we had was very good. All staff were helpful, friendly & polite. We will go again but request anything but Room 1!

It is right next to the water and has a nice position and view of the rest of the small town (village). We would stay again if we had to, as we couldn't find a place to stay in the actual town of Stranraer the Inn is located in Portpatrick). It was adequate for the price. We ate somewhere else, but the restaurant seemed busy. It was also pretty quiet for a pub/restaurant in the summer, which we appreciated.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. Polite at all times. Making sure our stay was enjoyable. Lovely walk to the castle on your left. And an exciting walk to Sandeel beach ( not for the faint hearted). Would call portpatrick a hidden gem for a short stay.
