Large bedroom with arm chairs. Good bathroom with walk-in shower. Quiet except for slight noise from kitchen extractor fan and some guests on the terrace. Very convenient parking at £5 per day extra. Limited choice "traditional breakfast" but good range at hotel-owned restaurant next door.

Have stayed in 2 different rooms and had 2 very different experiences. One was great, the other very dated with a carpet so tired and dirty it was slippy

The hotel was easy to find but we had to pop in and ask for directions to the car park. Check in is not until 4pm and we were not welcomed any earlier than that, so spent two hours wandering around Grantham. At check-in we were asked to pay £5 for parking as we had booked via a third-party website! Our room was up, down and around in the hotel. Just outside our room door were two steps which we almost fell down on two occasions as you don't expect steps just as you step in to the corridor. The room key, an old-fashioned Yale key, stuck in the lock each time we used it and had to be manipulated out. When we got in to the room the tv didn't work but Fintas on reception came up and got it working. Not a smart tv so limited viewing (as this was only a stop-over for us and there was nothing on in Grantham we were in our room most of the evening). At 5.15pm the industrial extractor for the kitchen was switched on, and we discovered that it was right next door to our bedroom window. Again, Fintas came up but there was nothing that he could do. The loud noise, like a generator, continued until 9pm and gave us both a headache. Unfortunately, the noise set up again at 6.30am next morning, spoiling our night's sleep. I honestly don't know why this room is allocated to visitors, no-one would enjoy hearing that noise in the evening then again at 6.30 the following morning. Sadly, we did not feel welcomed in to this hotel and our stay was most uncomfortable, we cannot recommend it.

For the 2nd oldest hotel in England this is a great place to stay the food is very good the staff helpful character excellent.
