Food was good. Staff were tentative. But the property is well due an update / over haul. It really does need some money spent on this property unfortunately. It could be a great place to visit & stay if it was better maintained. It wasn’t dirty just needed an overhaul. Beautiful views over the moors.

This hotel is in a great country location with extremely friendly staff, from the check-In, dinner service, breakfast and checkout. The hotel is very reasonably priced but this is probably due to the fact that the decor is old, a bit tired and in need of redecoration throughout. It was clean however the wallpaper was dated, the paintwork needed redoing and the carpet was clean but with the signs of oils stains, none of this bothered me but if you are fussy then maybe pay more and go elsewhere. Bed was comfortable and a good nights sleep. The restaurant was well worth a visit even if you don’t decide to stay here as the food was very well priced and of excellent quality. I had the venison steak, seasonal vegetables, salt & pepper chips & blue cheese sauce on the side, and must say that the steak was tender, cooked to perfection and the vegetables, chips & sauce were extremely tasty. Service was a little slow but worth the wait. In conclusion hotel worth staying at if don’t mind the decor a bit dated / tied, restaurant definitely visit.

We were sent to a room initially that was disgusting. It was unprepared and dirty. The bed had a bottom sheet only and that had dead insects on it. The duvet was in the sink and there was a bag of rubbish that looked like yesterday's takeaway.. Although the next room we were sent to had been prepared, the general feeling was shabby and in need of tlc and an upgrade. For example, the plug would not work in the bathroom, the loo seat would not stay up and the wardrobe doors did not close. However the staff were very nice.
