Rooms were clean and well kept. My only complaint was the rooms have no dressers.

The Kontiki is a beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff. The property is well-maintained with great on-site parking. The beach view is amazing being that you are right on Mambo beach with dozens of shops, restaurants, and activities to participate in. I stayed in the Tropical Superior room with my boyfriend and can say the room was great, but needs a little renovation. My only issue is housekeeping, we had to constantly worry about whether or not they would show up due to the lack of service on our first day. Keep in mind room service leaves at 4:30PM and once they do there is no clean up and you’ll have to wait till the next day. I would tell the front desk to inform the housekeepers and somehow the message wouldn’t be delivered unless I spoke to a housekeeper myself; that was the annoying part. Another issue we faced is the smell of the sewer system coming out of the drain/toilet. They “fixed” it, but it looks like they just cleaned the toilet and put some cleaner in — an otherwise temporary fix. Regardless, our trip was still amazing experience, phenomenal location, and friendly staff. I would come back in a couple of years to revisit again.

Lovely stay at the Kontiki for the most part. It was very loud Friday night for the club night and Saturday afternoon for the club brunch, so bring ear plugs if your room is close to the beach. Housecleaning came every day and did a good job. Staff was helpful, except for service on the beach wasn’t great. I loved the saltwater pools and felt private since most people were on the beach. Close to Mambo Beach for shops and restaurants.

It was so hard to get around and they don’t answer the phones if you don’t use/have what’s app. 😒🙄 But the resort was very nice

Decent Budget Value, but Service Gaps & Loud Vibe Great welcoming staff however, overall, this hotel offers decent budget value in a great location, but you have to make the best of it. It is not a relaxing retreat, expect loud party music playing about 80% of the time. (Not a bad thing if that’s your vibe) The Cons: Cabana Beach Club Service: Service here was very poor. Orders were incorrect on every single visit, and we had to hunt down staff just to order. Strangely, we were forced to pay immediately upon ordering, while we watched other guests order without being asked to pay upfront. (Take that how you will) Pool & Daybeds: The pool is beautiful but needed cleaning, and the daybeds near the room were consistently dirty. Compounding this, staff closed half the beachbeds for deep cleaning midday on Saturday which is obviously peak beach hours. Water & Checkout: You only get two complimentary bottles of water for your entire stay, so prepare to buy your own. Also, checkout is at 11:00 AM, and housekeeping knocked on our door to push us out at exactly 10:58 AM. Plumbing & Staff: The shower water got significantly colder as soon as other guests in our building used their plumbing. Additionally, the staff was polite but seemed entirely disinterested in engaging with patrons. If you want a quiet, relaxing vacation, look elsewhere. But if you want a lively, high-energy spot and don't mind managing subpar service and minor property maintenance quirks, this fits the bill.
