The Hurt Arms has recently been refurbished with style and modernity. Staff were welcoming and efficient, except for the breakfast chef who went awol ! It is accessible and well-situated near the River Derwent. The bedroom was roomy, quiet and decorous, as was the well-equipped bathroom. However, as the tall bedroom windows looked directly over a main junction at the south side of Ambergate some privacy screening on the lower third of the windows would not go amiss

One of the nicest places we’ve stopped in a long time… Spotless from top to bottom and a great feeling throughout the property and room itself. Staff were so helpful and appreciated the warm welcome and check in. Breakfast was delicious and loved the crockery and glassware too. Definitely going to come back soon !!!!!!

Clean, newly decorated room. The whole hotel had been refurbished, opening in May 2026. So all was very good. Went to the bar and had a few tapas to share and drinks. Only downsides to the stay was that there was no buffet selection for breakfast so you had to choose only 1 item per person off the menu. Anything extra was not included in the rate ....so they billed you for it. Otherwise a pleasant stay.

All was fine for everything except we were charged the full stay cost on booking on Hotels.Com and then again on check in. I have been assured my second payment will be refunded in due course. The young lady on check in was very efficient and charming but had a technical problem that led to the overcharging
