Hotel is dated and due for an upgrade. The pool is small and old. Unsmiling reception and poor first impression as we discovered the aircon was faulty after unpacking then the safe didn’t work after we changed rooms. Spoken English is limited. However, breakfast was really great with a huge selection of dishes. Good location close to West Lake but underpass to reach it has many steep stairs.

In general, staffs are lack of training, some of staffs are even rude to customers. Never experienced anything like this with anywhere with sofitel. I don't normally write any reviews. However my experience in this China trip with sofitel is really bad

The location is wonderful. The staff were very friendly and helpful except the intern from Nepal in the Concierge (he could not help at all but didn't let us know. Luckily We followed up with the Chinese manager who helped us immediately to prevent a delay）.
