The staff were excellent and this is a very nice hotel that I would recommend, though I do have some details to share. The parking was super expensive ($65/night) and the valet asked me to park my car myself, backing into a very narrow spot, which I thought he should have done himself but he was very busy. I used the gym which is huge and everything seems new, but at the same time, the machines were mostly too large for an average sized woman which was very frustrating. The pool is an amazing indoor-outdoor pool which is pretty spectacular and offers food service to the deck chairs. I did find it odd that we had to go out to the pool deck via the outdoor pool door and then cross into the indoor pool from outside--in my bathing suit in cold weather! There was a sauna that never got very hot and there is no hot tub. The wallpaper in my bathroom was peeling and the carpet was old and worn. They did offer a full hypoallergenic floor, which is very important to me, and the housekeeping team were excellent. For a very expensive hotel, I did expect more attention to detail. Even the in-room coffee machines were a bit old-fashioned and they had that icky faux cream powder rather than actual creamers. That said, I would stay there again because I love the location, which is perfect for access to Queen St shopping, and, a little further, Chinatown and Kensington Market, which are walkable. The pool is a big attraction for me and makes it worthwhile.

While the staff were amazing - very helpful and pleasant - the property is pretty dated and it's clear you're getting an experience designed to optimize profit margins. The towels are thin and grey, the (very expensive) room service breakfast arrived in a paper bag with plastic utensils, the hair dryer didn't work, the lock on my first room didn't work. At the price point we paid it was a disappointment. I feel like the great location doesn't make up for that. I still walked away not feeling like we got what we paid for.
