We had a great view of the belfry from our room window. Spacious room. Hotel is right in the centre. Very convenient from all aspects. Very amiable and considerate front desk staff. Housekeeping could be a bit better, though.

Absolutely great location! This hotel is right in the town center, and walkable to nearly everything. The staff was very helpful in recommendations, and kind enough to allow us to play cards down in the lobby.

We stayed at the Novotel Ghent for one night to celebrate a family birthday. Travelling from London, we booked fairly last minute and so the room was around €270 Euros for one night. Naively I had reached out to the hotel in advance in order to ask for some simple birthday celebration items such as balloons or similar to be placed in the room as it was a birthday. There was no response from the hotel to do with that. Nevertheless, we arrive at the hotel and from the second you get there, it is clear to see that the photos online are out of date. The hotel is old, run down, stinky and dirty. The lobby absolutely wreaked of damp, the rooms were tiny, not clean and smelt like a New York Taxi cab. You could see black dust streaks where the AC circulated the dust, and as the AC was so bad, they had put a dirty old desk fan on the table. It actually ruined our night in Ghent. We truly felt conned to pay so much for something that is little more than a Motel you'd get in the USA. Shocking that Novotel can get away with this!
