We stayed 3 nights in Ghent and really enjoyed the city and the stay at the hotel. I don't know if it was the level of room we booked or if the level of service was the same for all but if you skipped having your room serviced they would leave coupons for free beer or wine in the hotel bar. Thought that was a great idea. We also were not expecting the turndown service but each night when we got back to the room, slippers were laid out, bed was turned down, there was a bottle of water and a glass on each night stand and chocolates on the bed. The hotel is really nice as was all the staff and the location is perfect. Our expectations were exceeded and this is most definitely the hotel I will book next time we get to Ghent.

Breakfast was good. THE MACHINE COFFEE WAS good, but obnrequest good coffee was provided. Room promptly made room the morning. Check-in was poor. We had to wait until 4.30 before our room was made available. Apologies were made but no refreshments offered while we waited i the lobby

Fine hotel with extremely central location just around the corner from the cathedral, with a multitude of bars and restaurants all around. ”Dog-friendly” but not so much: We arrived at breakfast with our dog only a few minutes after opening. We were then seated - by two hotel staff members - in the breakfast room section by the windows; this part is separated from the buffet by a wall or a screen. We picked our food from the buffet and sat there eating for twenty minutes, our dog lying quietly on the floor, and no other guests sitting in this section. Then another staff member appears and turns us off from our table while we are sitting there eating, saying we have to sit in another ”room” because of the dog. I said that we had been referred to this table by his colleagues but he persisted. So we had to move our food and drinks and sit elsewhere. Since we and the dog had already been at this table for quite a while this action was really totally useless as well as rude to us as guests, even though the first two staff members seemed to have made a mistake when seating us - which was not our fault. Furthermore, this ”room” to where we were moved was actually outdoors, it was like a patio with a tarpaulin mounted as a roof. It’s fine to have breakfast in the open air when it’s warm in the summer, but not at 8 o’clock in the morning in the autumn when it is twelve degrees. This whole action was totally unaccepatable and injudicious.

We were upgraded to a family room but would have rather stayed in superior room due to lack of attention to furnishings. It was a large room and needed more rugs, furniture and wall hanging. So large it could be divided into 2 separate spaces.
