We had booked the cheapest Level room, unfortunately with only a bathtub, not a shower. My husband has a mobility issue and climbing into a tub is not possible for him. We contacted the reception to ask for a room with walk in shower and was told several rooms were available for an additional cost of 30 euros. When checking with hotels.com the room prices at this exact time were 40 % lower than at the time we made the reservation, and even the rooms we were offered were surprisingly cheaper than our room. One could expect to be met with a slight understanding and to be offered some help - but no. Not in this hotel. Breakfast was very good and the housekeeping lady who made our room. When we arrived the hotel there was no one to help us carrying the suitcase up the flight of stairs to enter the reception area, even though the receptionist clearly could see through the windows how my husband was struggling with the stairs and me struggling with the suitcases. To me they behaved cynical. The Maitre de in the Sumendi restaurant recommended a different main dish than what we initially ordered due to some allergies, after we had returned the menu to the waiter. We were recommended to have the rodaballo/turbot. In the shops it is sold for 20 euros a kilo, but in this hotel restaurant it was charged for 155 euros a kilo and we had to pay 170 euros for our dish. The day after I asked if they had made a mistake, as such sometimes happens, but no, it was correct. Find another hotel!

In the whole our stay was comfortable and the hotel very central. Our daughter and her husband travelled with us and their small dog. The cost for the dog was extremely expensive €55 per day. I’ve never experienced this cost anywhere. Our room Albeit comfortable the cleaning was very poor. Carpet unhoobered. Washbasins and bathroom not cleaned daily. Not worth the cost for sure.

We have upgraded to the Level each time we have stayed at the Melia. While the facility was very nice the amenities were lacking. Very little food options other than salty snacks. All of the other Melia’s Level have offered much more from a food perspective. While the room upgrade was very nice the overall experience was lacking due to the Level amenities.

Room, lobby and restaurants are very clean and beautifully designed. Customer service is also very good and helpful and the restaurants are very good. However, the hotel suffers from maintenance issues. The front door slider was off its track and held open the 3 days we were there. The elevator had some sort of operator glitch so that it wouldn’t stop on sequential floors when it was called. It wasn’t too bad but occasionally we would need to wait a few extra minutes for the elevator to stop on our floor even though it passed us several times. It is glass elevator so we can see it operating (very cool) and there was a sign noting the issue. And, breakers in our room flipped twice shutting off outlets and air conditioning. Finally, the women’s room sauna and showers are in rough shape with exposed metal screws (very hot!) and moldy caulking. If the hotel could solve these issues, I would rate it highly.
