Beautiful hotel in a great location, with very helpful staff. Unfortunately cleaning items and equipment were left in the hallway near our door and our bathroom light stopped working for no apparent reason.

I gave the hotel 2 stars due to the extreme noise at night. I was unable to sleep until around 4:30 a.m. because of people shouting and screaming in the street, cars playing loud music, and taxis coming and going. The noise seemed to come largely from the bar next door, which may be operated by the hotel itself. I am certainly not unfamiliar with young people enjoying a night out, but this was exceptionally loud and went on for hours. Unfortunately, it made it impossible to get a proper night’s sleep.

The communal areas were quite stunning, with lots of space to sit quietly or as a group. The breakfast was great and the staff were friendly. The hotel is in a wonderful location. We had a standard room, which sadly didn't match the quality or design of the main hotel. It was quite cramped and poorly designed. For the price I expected more.

The Hotel is magnificent. The rooms are clean and very nice, as is the rest of the building with its wooden beams and grand fireplace with three story chimney. New logs are placed on the fire regularly, giving the hotel a very nice and cosy atmosphere. The restaurant is of Scandinavian design with beautiful wooden furniture. It also overlooks the harbour, having nice views all-round. The staff speaks good English, as all Norwegians do, and is very helpful. A nice detail is that the staff does not merely consist of Norwegians but they hail from a variety of international backgrounds, which makes for nice conversations. All in all a very nice experience, do recommend wholeheartedly.
