The afternoon and evening staff are very friendly and helpful. I actually arrived about 2 hours before check in time, and they were able to get me a room early. The person who works early mornings (around 6:00AM during the week) would obviously rather be anywhere but there. The hotel is dated, looks like it hasn't been updated since the 90's. Every surface in my hotel room was sticky, the remote was actually stuck to the top of the dresser. The office chair in the room was broken and the safe was jammed. The engineer came up and we got the safe open. He was supposed to get a different chair for me, but I'm assuming none were available. Both the couch and the sofa chair in the room were badly stained. Carpet is coming up, shower grout loose or missing, etc. I think the cleaning staff probably does the best they can, but it has to be hard to keep 30 year old furniture clean. Breakfast is decent, the same as every other Holiday Inn express. Three mornings in a row, the cooler with milk, yogurt, and hard boiled eggs was locked during breakfast. It seems no one had a key for it. The hotel only has one working elevator, and it is super slow. I would recommend requesting a room on floors 1 or 2 unless you love stairs. The positives: Again, afternoon and evening staff, super friendly. Reasonably priced. Close to Lindbergh station, which lets you take the MARTA train downtown, which is about a 20 minute ride. The surrounding area is decent.
