Very dated decor, needed a lot of sprucing up. Would have liked handwash in the bathroom. I personally hate having two single beds pushed together to be called a double, as it’s very uncomfortable. Positives were the beautiful river running through the grounds and the unusual but delicious dinner menu. Staff very helpful and friendly.

We had a very lovely stay. The room was brilliant— dulex double ! The view was stunning. We loved that it was out a bit but still close to Dumfries for a wee wander.

General appearance was tired especially the bedroom. It was comfortable enough but the big old building was showing it's age a little. Nice setting though.

What a great and beautiful location . We really enjoyed our stay here . The meals are excellent and the Staff very friendly . They are a very friendly dog Hotel . The room was a good size . There is also a Lift in the Building . The Bar area was full of life and a great place to socialise . There's also a lounge area which is quite impressive . You have to book meal times and there quiet strict to them . There is a carpark area and a drop of area . They also have Wedding reception here and a Marquee for holding other functions .

This is a hard one - there were definitely redeeming features. There is so much potential in this place - the setting is stunning and the river is beautiful. To say the hotel is frayed around the edges is kind. Staff were friendly - although it was interesting that on check out I wasn’t asked how I enjoyed my stay. I suspect they may have been stung by that question more than once. My room was rather tatty but comfortable. The view was incredible but framed with mouldy windows. The bathroom was not clean. The toilet was filthy. The previous occupants bar of soap was still on the shower taps. They have changed from standard sized bottles of soap and shower gels to tiny once per use bottles. No big issue with that - but two empty and rather crusty looking larger bottles remain. I had to wait to be seated at breakfast whilst the person seating received complaints from a couple who were very unhappy with their breakfast experience. It was a bit embarrassing to have to stand and spectate. To be fair - I had the continental option and it was fine. So much potential but needs major investment.
