Clean room, but hotel in general was in need of attention. Staff were friendly and helpful. Insecure front door, and communal window on landing was left open. Is this safe?

Pleasant enough dog friendly hotel with good bus service to Brighton. Bit tired in some ways and garden untidy and in need of care.

After reading some reviews I contacted the hotel to make sure that, as advertised, the room had air conditioning. Nobody answered my message, of course. With a fully paid reservation we were given a room with BROKEN Air conditioning, of course. Two fans recirculating hot air produced an fryer experience: the manager doesn't spray guests with oil, but once you step inside the room, prepare to swelter. How many rooms have the AC working? You dont need to know: go somewhere else. Here It is not going to work, ever. During our 3 night stay we were not offered any room with it, nobody came to fix It and nobody asked how we were. Thanks you for nothing. The hotel never apologized and refused any compensation. It is not a hotel but an unprofessional pub. The first day they trash in the room had no been emptied and the last day they did not even cleaned the room. And the funny lights coming in from the outside all night? Believe me, you dont want to know. We left as early as possible, even without waiting for the breakfast that we had also paid for. We descended the dangerous stairs forever.

Overall ok but the air conditioning want working and we chose this venue as it's a heatwave at the moment. Close enough to Glyndebourne and Brighton to be a convenient stop
