It started off poorly, as I knocked on the door marked reception, rang the football and waited, and waited, and waited. I ended up having to call the hotel on the phone for someone to let me in. Apparently my room was lovely, according to reception... What they meant was it looked nice if you glanced around. The safe was locked shut, why didn't the cleaning lady tell someone before I arrived? The chair in the room was broken, a spring falling out from the seat cut my leg when I sat on it resting my legs underneath. But these were minor inconveniences compared to the sound of the pedestrian crossing beeping every minute for ten seconds as people crossed the road outside, couples with the sound of the property gate opening and closing at the beginning of the day and the end of the night. It was sad though a banshee had entered the room. The sound was broken by delivery vans reversing to offload inventory, and the pub emptying bottles in their bins. And then the breakfasts slowly disappeared throughout my stay... Two sausages and two strips of bacon, became one sausage and two strips of bacon, which became one sausage and one strip of bacon.on my final day. If I had stayed two night longer perhaps there would be nothing served. It looks nice but unless you go to sleep at 1am and wake at 5:30am it was really the worst stay I've had for many many years. Don't stay in room I've! Not even worth half the price.
