Check-in was an issue. It took close to 30 minutes to get us the keys after a long trip. Then, they also wanted to charge me 20% more than the quoted and confirmed price on Hotels.com. The TV didn’t work, and the rooms are old and need upgrading. The food was poor on their 15th floor restaurant…I should have brought a chainsaw for that salty steak. The only highlight was the location downtown, casino, and proximity to shopping. Will stay elsewhere next time in Windhoek

Very unprofessional attitude. I'd never recommend it to anyone. I had a booking from Monday to Friday and I let them know several days in advance that, due to flight disruptions, I'd be arriving Tuesday early in the morning instead of Monday and to keep my reservation. I've got a reply stating that it was noted and that would not be a problem. However, when I arrived in there, reception staff seemed to unknow what I was talking to and claimed that I was trying to modify a reservation that did not allow that. When I showed them their own reply, they began with excuses and " Please, wait, we're consulting the proper department" and so on... After a couple of hours, it finally turned out that the hotel gave my room to someone else for that night and, therefore, it wasn't ready yet for my to check-in. Eventually, and after plenty of different excuses and reasons provided in a very rude way from reception staff, I had to wait until check-in time 14:00 pm to get a room, wasting a whole working morning. Needless to say that I was charged my full stay since "terms in my reservation did not allow modifications".

I travel a lot and Avani has one of the best hotel breakfast experiences. It's also in a convenient location with nearby coffee/bakery shops and a small shopping center attached. I definitely recommend staying at this hotel if you are looking for a central location with plenty of shopping options.

Far too busy and noisy. I was offered an upgrade, as expected that was because something was wrong with the upgraded room I was offered - it was above the restaurant, and I could hear the extraction fans and air con whirring noisily. The room itself was OK. Pretty much a clone of the international hotel style. But nothing special. Parking (for my motorcycle) was in a publicly accessible multistorey next door. The security guard was great, and looked after my bike all night. Windhoek city is a bit disappointing too. Museum closed. Hard to get around. I got propositioned by a young lady in the cafe! That's never happened to me before. Not sure what to think. I said I had to phone my wife, so was too busy. Instead I went round to the supermarket and bought a cheap dinner.
