Amazing hotel in a prime location. A wonderful building, very charming and lots of character. Right on the water with great views. Room was furnished elegantly in the hotel style and all the little extras and attention to detail enhanced the experience. The breakfast was very good. The Cobbler bar was also great and a lovely way to end the evening, sitting by the window looking out on the historic surrounding buildings. Also midday check out is always good.

The Post is absolutely breathtaking, inside and out! We stayed in the new Porter House wing in the Family Suite and it definitely exceeded our expectations. This particular room overlooks a beautiful part of the canal, has an incredible terrace with a large personal sauna and two immaculately decorated bedrooms with blackout drapes and earplugs (which you'll need because there are young people who play music and party literally all night on the canal). The Cobbler is a gorgeous bar and serves a full breakfast in the morning - definitely worth a try while staying, it's expensive but delicious!

My wife and I was very disappointed during our three days stay at 1898 post. Very small room, blocked view of outside, room temperature controlled from the recipient desk, no sealed bottled water, the usb phone chargers ports were intermittent, very hard Coffee machine accessibility , dust and particles and tiny specs moving and filling the entire room, hotel’s entrance not easy when carrying luggage and had to go through two sets of stairs. Shower area not safe for seniors. The only positive thing about this hotel was its location.

Amazing hotel with the best location in the city and great staff. The room was quirky with the shower and sink on the upper level, seemed cool when we first walked in but became a pain having to walk up and down the stairs as they are badly lit. Also the light switches didn’t make any sense, you have to turn everything on to figure out which one worked. Small inconveniences but great hotel overall. Would go back with a different room.

The location was perfect. History behind the building was amazing. Service was prompt and friendly. Everything marks perfect scores but I had to take one star off for the layout of the rooms. Pack lightly - you can never reach anywhere without stairs. We had to carry our luggage and walk up one flight to the reception. In the room, the toilet was downstairs with the bed but the sink and shower was upstairs in the mezzanine - another set of stairs. It felt weird not being able to wash my hands after using the toilet (both #1 and #2). There is hand sanitizer in the toilet, but to me it wasn’t enough and I almost felt guilty stepping out the door without washing hands. If you can look past these, the bedding and amenities were more comfortable than my own and the view was amazing. The location can’t be beat. I recommend this hotel for younger couples with no mobility issues or babies to carry.
